â€Å"Art is a lie that makes us realize the truth.† –Pablo Picasso What is art? Art is one spilled out onto a canvas or molded into a sculpture. One’s artwork depicts and reflects upon the artist as a physical being and their norms. Thoughts, feelings and emotions are the paint that is glossed and decorated across a wide open canvas; and within hours it will dry creating a new masterpiece that a thousand words cannot tell because it is made up of one’s story and that cannot be replicated. No matter how precise and delicate a person is in attempting to recreate a painting, it shall never be done. If art could be recreated exactly, each human being alive would have to be clones almost like robots, with identical thought processes, because artwork is not about smothering paint onto a canvas but about creating it from within. Middle school was my opportunity to create a masterpiece. To start fresh on a blank canvas and create memories that would show in my painting as vibrant colors and intricate patterns. At the end of it all, now that I’m graduating 8th grade, I have a complete masterpiece that can tell a story. It is full of liveliness like the pictures dance off the canvas. Before 1776, the colonies were under strict British rule due to a series of acts by King George III that levied heavy taxes against the colonies without representation. It was this that ultimately led to the American Revolution and more importantly the Declaration of Independence, a document that would be the foundation of our country as we know it. The Declaration of Independence was the way the colonies literally declared that they were no longer going to live under the rule of the British and instead would form an entirely new nation free of these strict laws. The issuing of the Declaration of Independence marked the first time that Americans really started to cement their name as the â€Å"land of the free†.
